Class Name: Introduction to Nose Work

Summary:  Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt.  The sport of canine Nose Work is designed to develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise.

No prior training is required. Dogs burn both mental and physical energy. Shy or fearful dogs build confidence. Increase the bond with your dog by working as a team and learning better communication.  Does your dog need a job?  This sport even helps active dogs focus that energy in a positive fun way.  This sport is also perfect for older dog who still need a job but also need low impact for their joints.

All dogs work one at a time and will be crated when not working.
Class Requirements – crate, flat buckle collar, 6 foot leash and high value treats or toys. 10 foot leash very helpful but not required.
No: choke chains, pinch collars, halti leashes, gentle leaders or flexi leashes allowed to be used during class.

 

Class Name: Continuing Nose Work
Will an alternate be allowed: No
Will a drop-in be allowed if the class does not fill: No

Classes will build on the handler skills of how scent moves. We will strengthening the dogs independent searching  ability. We will be doing searches on an off leash.

Prerequisite for this class.
Must have attended an intro to Nosework class and be able to provide proof of class.
Dog must be on scent. Instructors are happy to meet with you to do an evaluation to see if this class would work for you. Please work with Class Registrar if you need an evaluation.
